"Baby" - The place where most of this madness began.

If you've got a little time to read about "Baby" and the massive amounts of work that went into the car, its worth it. This happened because I took a trip up to meet a pile of internet friends from BimmerBoard in NJ/PA and have formed lifelong relationships with many. I've never driven anything like that car in my life. The first time I drove it, and returned to my stock iL, I felt like I'd gotten behind the wheel of a caprice wagon. I was humbled when the owner, gave me the keys and said, "take it." I insisted that he come along; in the end I went solo - around a 2-3 mile block and haven't been able to get it out of my head. That was roughly 10 years ago. Anybody that sticks with these aging supermodels has some grit - and Im always happy to see another E38, or any other loved older car on the road. Where will the madness take me next...

With the number of BMW's Scotty has had, for him, the madness just continues. On and on and on and on... Plus "Baby" has been the cause for a number of us crazies! I remember when it was originally shipped to Germany for it's "run", subsequent long term at the "tuner" and then some. But still the cause for most of us and our lunacy.

I've slowed down to a crawl, I had to go through the BMW school of discovery and options. :-) I've had the Dinan since 2013 and never planned on a second E38. I've been looking for awhile for black interior to swap in the Dinan (tan carpet is dumpster ready) and have had mostly zero luck locating one, until yesterday. The 750 I have I bought for a song not running, planning to take its interior and send it packing. However, the inside is a 9/10 & only needs a headliner. When I connected the battery I discovered 70k miles on the ticker and decided to dive in. My dad got rid of his 750, so we swapped wheels/tires and now Ive got Mpars on that, too. And..here we are. Dinan on weekends, 750 is the daily. Luckily I live about a mile from work. I will not be horse trading anymore. :-) I feel like if I did buy something down the road, it'd be very economical.

But yeah, Baby ruined me. Respect.
