Hey all, I'm working on chasing down my rough idle on my 733i and I found this great picture of all the temp sensors and what they're for. I was hoping that someone here could fill me in as to what they should read if they are still good. Could anyone provide that info so I can check them all?
thanks folks

Well...it depends! On coolant temp.
Temp sensor with two prongs just runs to gauge cluster. The one to the Motronic is an NTC, I would assume the others follow suit. Make sure now hacker put in a resistor in the harness. The thermotime is for cold starts only. Not familiar enough with the other that is for idle control unit, sorry.

I have an excellent running 1984 733 that idles well. I can check these tomorrow at ambient temp if you want

Most of that information is in the Bentley E28 5-series manual. A valuable addition to the repair documentation for the E23.
@bobdospecial
I'd appreciate that, thanks.

I know, I've been trying to avoid a lot of further investment until I see if I can get it to run better.
Maybe a search of mye28.com will reveal the numbers for you. I'm sure they have been posted in a few threads, maybe more than one sensor per thread but searching to find them might be a bit difficult. But give it a try as we await the answers.
Pester me and I will dig out my Bentley book for you. Main CTS to the ECU starts high, like in the 1000s and drops to the 100 area hot.

This is want you want- same as my '79- Your's may be the shorter sensor (bottom protruding into housing) but this will work.

Hey.. Did you ever get any resistance info on the coolant temp for idle sensor? The manual I have is useless for this.
