Self-Locking Nuts & Washers in Place of Self-Locking Collar Nut on Strut Bearing?

BavAuto sent out the wrong size fasteners for the strut tower bearing. The local hardware store has the correct size nylock nuts but they have no flange/collar. Rather than drive 45 minutes and pay way too much to the nearest stealership and rather than wait 3 or 4 more days for BavAuto to send out the correct nuts, can't I just slap a washer underneath the hardware store-bought nylocks and call it done? For the record, there'll be a strut brace between the fasteners and the top of the strut tower.

The strut mount bearing needs a large flat washer. It doesnt necessarily have to be the bmw washer, but it needs one the same size for sure. Also make sure to put the dust covers on the top and bottom or it will fail prematurely

Thanks. I'm actually referring to each of the three 13mm nuts on the very top side.

Screw it. I'll just use the six old ones with some blue loctite.

Use whatever you got for now, and put in the correct ones later. If you swap them one at a time you won't need to re align. Next choice, I would Re use old ones with lock tight if they still look good.

Thanks. I'm doing a complete strut swap so there's no way I'll be able to change out one at a time. I've heard that it's entirely possible to maintain the current alignment after replacing the struts.

In hindsight, yes I can change them out one at a time after I've done the old nut and loctite method.

Struts have no effect on alignment unless youve added camber plates or swapped strut mounts. In stock form all you can set on the front end is the front toe which is controlled by the tie rods.
