So, I know there are thousands of topics for this. But the solutions are many. Turbo, MAF, MAP, DPF, EGR, valves idk. I just need confirmations so I can do something because I feel dead inside when my car doesn't work like it should.
Here is the story. Few days ago I sent my car to a mechanic to change the exhaust manifold. It was badly cracked. I saw the gas smelling fumes under the hood some time ago and decided to buy a new iron cast manifold made for e60, since from what I gathered the original BMW one is utter shit, the inox one.
When this was done and when I set my foot on the gas, it basically glued me to the seat how better the car went. I was amazed. Fumes were also no longer present.
Due to cracks on the manifold my turbo never really worked on 100 percent. Didn't even work on 60 percent I'd say. It's good I don't have the car for very long heh.
And now it works like a charm...or does it?
First and second shift it revs up nicely, in third, around 3000rpm, sometimes exactly 3000rpm and sometimes 3200-3300 or even 3500 turbo just turns off, in fourth 3000 is max and turbo shuts off. My fuel consumption arrow just falls down too, because obviously turbo is shutting. Can even hear that turbo is no longer there. Now I guessed this is the turbo safethingy and I wonder what is the reason. Can the reason be that due to my car never actually had the turbo running at 100 percent that DPF or EGR clogged or whatever? Could it be just DPF clogged because it does that all the time?

UPDATE
Found a hole in EGR hose, oil was dipping from it to a hose below it. Hole was oily, basically all the shit accumulated there 'patched' the hole kinda. Went on autobahn to declog it.
It took time, car barely went 170km/h, but after a lot of driving car was kinda breathing again. Went all up to 230 km/h later easily. Started hearing whistle noises suddenly, like air. Afraid it's turbo but friend had the same issue on his car where his EGR tube had a hole and it made whistle sounds. Then checked the EGR tube again and the hole was, as I expected, not so 'patched' anymore, could stick a finger in it if I wanted. Guess thats where the noise is coming from.
So ordering a new EGR hose and gonna clean EGR itself too, DPF also. Will come here with results as I seen there are many people with similar problems.
