    2003 sport wheel repair

    I'm back to owning another BMW. The clear has peeled bad on the wheels. How do you refinish the lips on these wheels? I have 3 extra wheels but all of them have peeled. bmw.JPG

    DIY: lots of elbow grease.
    Professional: Expect a many-hundred dollar bill.

    If you go the DIY route wear a 3m respirator and long sleeves when using Jasco or airline stripper. That stuff is really nasty.

    I did this;

    Take them apart by spraying tons of PB Blaster & letting it sit for an hour adding as necessary & then carefully breaking the bolts, you may break a few, I broke 5 or 6 out of 4 rims I did.

    Flip them upside down & use a hammer with a wood block to hammer out the center piece on a piece of carpet so you don't scratch it.

    Then I used a drill with a plasticy circle grinder to take off all the clear from the outer barrels and then just sanded down the centers & painted them & clear coated.

    I've got more info if you need & some pictures.

    DO NOT TRY TO STRIP THE PAINT OFF THE CENTERS

    I did it and it fucked them so badly and they look awful now

    I did this:

    Took to pro rim refinishers. Picked up 2 weeks later.

    Honestly for the quality, and the lack of many-days-of-hassles-work it was worth the bill...

    (bill wasn't huge either BTW.. but that all depends on who you have local)

    Call a BMW dealer and see who they contract for wheel repair and then contact them on their own. For cosmetic damage (no bends), I usually see between $150-200 per wheel

    Contact me for module coding/ECU resets

    Sounds about right for "top quality full proper job" although there's shops that will do it for less... but if you cheap on it too much you're taking your chances with quality...
