E60 530i 2004 - Transmission Fault. Transmission Failsafe program.

Hey guys! Kind of in a pickle here,

Just got new transmission filter / pan and new transmission fluid replaced.

It's an automatic.

I was driving smoothly home when suddenly it felt like it went to neutral gear, even though it was in drive.

I stopped in the middle of the road shifted it to park then drive and I was able to move, but I got the transmission fault warning and I wasn't able to drive at full speed.

I pulled over and the car would not start. 5 minutes later I was able to start it and drive home normally.

Anyone else have to deal with this issue? Any input helps!

How long ago did you change the oil and the filter and how many miles did you have on the car

Changed transmission fluid and filter 2 days ago

They said that the transmission needs to be a certain temperature when you change the trans-Oil and that you should use ZF transmission fluid I think it’s called lifeguard

i suspect you have not properly topped off the transmission during the final fill stages.
