Should I trust this starter for my Vert ?

Should I trust this starter - Quite cheap

Given the hassle to swap the starter I just wonder....

It's a china knock off of a bosch starter. I have one and it's been fine.

I once ent through 5 advanced auto refurbished starters in 2 years. All warrentys. I literally threw in a Bosch one with 100,000 on it when in a pinch, still starts with no lag 3 years later with another engine swap.

I bought the eBay Chinese knockoff starter once and it failed within months. Given how much fun it is to change the starter, I replaced it with a good one. There are good rebuilders out there. I have used California alternator and starter on eBay before. There are also Bosch rebuilts — I just put a factory Bosch rebuilt in my 08M3 and it cost $105 after returning the core.

Just like anything, you get what you pay for. I don't enjoy changing starters so I would buy a better one.

I guess it depends on how much you want your car to start reliably.

I just bought one from carid for my E90M3 and it had the lowest price after core return. They send you a shipping label for the return and you reuse the original boxes. I would not worry about lifetime warranty with Bosch rebuilt but if the price is almost the same then go for it.

Thanks for the posts . I found a Bosch rebuild on amazon for $75 . It's on it's way. I got the intake manifold gasket a few days ago from FCP euro.
FCP price for the starter was to high in my opinion .

Amazon now tracks same day delivery with a map ! Crazy .

Well the quality of rebuilding can vary widely even if both places started with a Bosch core. So that may explain price differences. FCP prices are generally very competitive FWIW. Hope it works out for you. I typically just have a local auto electrical re builder to repair things.

Remember that the next time your car won't crank. I learned the hard way with parts store alternators on my e46, including the original and the current one I'm on my fifth and this one is from FCP and has lasted longer than all of them except the original. Btw, Advance only gives you a lifetime warranty on the first part and 90 days after that.

Gave away my BMWs, driving a VW and an Audi now.
