'79 323i on BaT. Interesting, has an early dash and some nice looking seats, but late-style mirrors.

Yea 79s are oddballs due to the transition year.
I tore one down that had the old dash but new turn signal stalks and as you pointed out, late side view mirrors.
Lots of other examples. Too bad it didn't have the late 5 speed trans!

Hey what's up guys. I need another BMW like I need a bullet in the head but my uncle is giving me a free 320i (Free20i, haha) and just trying to get an idea of how much time money and effort to expend. I most likely will be selling it rather than keep it but checking out my options. I'll see if I can get some pics posted but this is the gist. Late model ('82-83 maybe) 320i manual, complete and sitting covered next to a house in Washington state, sitting for at least 5 years. Exterior color is a light baby blue, interior is a darker blue, couple small dings but looks like original paint (same color paint in doorwells). No title, no keys, and unknown mileage and reason for sitting. I live in California but I have a friend up north that I will be towing the car to his house first.
So, given this basic info I am trying to decide how far to take it and was wondering what you guys think.
-I could sell it as is up in Washington State and hopefully get $2000.
-I could pay at least $1000 to get it back to California, get it running and cleaned up and titled in California and sell it for maybe $5000
I know these cars are popular but there are still a good amount available for sale. The top of this market right now is like $10-15k correct? What does the average decent condition late model 320i go for?

So if I posted for sale at $2000 and got anything over $1000 I would be lucky?

So, the car is technically mine now, but it's at my friend's house up north so I'm getting pics and info from him now. It's a 1978 BMW 320i with 150k miles, paint is original light blue color. Mostly complete, engine is still in place. No sunroof and no right side mirror. Overall pretty clean and straight exterior, cracked windshield, some underside rust. So...if anybody in the Northwest might be interested please send a message.

This popped up on FB. initial asking price was 11k, then I guess it came out that it has a rebuilt title and the price was halved.
Depending on why it was totaled, it looks pretty good.

Seems like 5k was a FB glitch

That's fair and yes, you have to have access to the group. But you can always take the name and directly message. That's what I do when I see a listing from an outside group.
Lots of people are moving to FB to sell these days

Ownership History
This 320i was donated to a charity, and it's being listed by the seller on behalf of Car Donation Services. The clean California title was issued in 1993, so the person who donated it owned it for at least 28 years. It was assigned a PNO registration in 2017.
Depends on what you like. Red is the color of the most ticketed car or was, its bright and stands out, me I like a metallic silver-blue color--silver in the sun due to the metallic chips and blue in the shade. BMW color 149 Saphirblau Sapphire Blue Metallic Blue
