Hi All,
Twice now fuse 48 has blown in my 2000 X5, and I've read online that there might be a Technical Service Bulletin that describes how the harness wiring for the control unit in the dash might rub against a metal edge in the dash structure in the knee pad area (unclear if it is driver's side or passenger side).
Anyone know how I can get the service bulletin? "64 08 16 IHKA inoperative fuse 48 blown" or 64 201 03? (I see two listed)
(Not sure what IHKA stands for?)
Thanks,
Neil.
Well, I checked by the wiring by the passenger's knee but that looks okay.
I was finding my fuse 48 lasts about 40 seconds then blows, resulting in a dead climate control display..
I'm working through a list of the things the internet tells me might be wrong, before I buy new Climate Control unit..
- Check for chaffed wires next to the glovebox (removed) where the wires from the Climate control go past a sharp metal edge (somewhere near the passenger's left knee). - Checked
- Unplug the heater valves under the hood (the water control valve?) - Checked
- Unplug the aux. water pump - seems to remove the problem for me (as was described in this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULwE_u9XijY)
- Check for chaffed wires above the driver's knees
- and between the fuse box and IHKA module
I suppose I'll have to replace the aux pump, but first I'll leave it unplugged for a few days and see if the fuse stays intact..
Besides it looks awkward to get to..
