Ive been working on my 540 project car and run into some issues.. have a coolant leak that starts once the car is warmed up that drips on the top of front passenger side of the oil pan and then runs off the car. Is this the water pump gasket? I plan on replacing all the cooling system when money permits but for now I'm trying to pin point this to know what parts are absolutely necessary at this point. I plan on replacing the shroud at the same time. Car doesn't overheat, just leaks.
Also when the car is first started it sometimes smokes...smells like gas and oil but it goes away it's not consistent what could this be? It sure needs a tune up but I'm more concerned about the smoke aspect could this be a pcv valve?
Thirdly, the rubber hose line going from the oil filter on the driver side into what looks like a metal fitting into the motor, what is that called? so I can try to order it, mine broke away from the plastic nipple.
Thanks for any help or advice in advance

Could be the water pump or the expansion tank.
Valve covers may be leaking oil on the exhaust manifold.
The rubber hose on the oil filter canister is the drain hose for the canister filter. When you loosen the cap the oil drains out thru that hose and into the sump.
Looks more likely to be water pump based on where it's landing. I'm assuming it's just the gasket since it doesn't over heat but since I'm gonna be in there it probably only makes sense to do the pump and test my fan and see if it needs replacement..probably thermostat as well.
Especially since it only does it once warmed up It probably isn't the expansion tank I'm thinking it's once the thermo opens is when the fluid reaches the leak location.. thank you for that info on the drain hose I'll check fcpeuro for it since I didn't see it on rock auto.

Thank you!
Also the smoke is coming out of the tailpipe not off the manifold
That would be your CCV valve located behind the intake manifold near the firewall.
Make sure you use a real BMW waterpump gasket. Many have used aftermarket gaskets and found that they don't last.
IME a water pump leak looks more like spray all over the damn place because its right in the path of fan-air (even with a fan-delete) and it shows up more as the dried up white residue all around and is super hard to pin down. If you have that (white residue all over the front including hoses that are near the water pump) then yeah... WP. If its just pooling down on the upper oil pan... maybe alternator seal? Oops wait - NV motor, never mind.
Valley pan? VP usually leaks tend to drain out more towards the back but some can leak out the front too if its really bad.
