So, think I'm low on tranny fluid
On the top of the engine bay, right side behind radiator is a cap that says "Use ATF Fluid only". The stick reads wicked low. Is that where I add the tranny fluid? I thought it was only accessed underneath?
If that ISN'T the tranny fluid, what is it?... cuz that's the fluid I need.
Thanks. This is a beater car I got cheap and use sparingly in the snow or when I need a back seat. I'm gonna drive it in to the ground. It's paid for itself, so I'm not doing anything fancy.
Thanks.
Seamus.
That is the power steering fluid, and it uses Dexron III ATF. Note that the dipstick of the cap should only be wet about 3/4 an inch or so, when the cap is screwed on fully. If you overfill it, when the fluid gets hot and foams, it will come out of the hole in the cap.
The transmission is filled from below, with engine running.
