Removed rear sub deck, speakers putting out pure treble

So I removed the rear sub deck and also replaced all 4 door speakers and enclosures with that of a parts car, also had DSP. My speakers had no foam left at all and found one door missing a speaker all together. Sub deck was a mess, 2 different speakers just sitting in there without being screwed, courtesy of the PO. So after this, the sound has been swamped with treble, even had to bring the treble down to absolute minimum and its still pretty strong. I threw in a 12" sub in the back to see if it was due to lack of low freq. Nope, same deal. Sounds better but the treble is quite strong still.

Could have disconnecting the parcel sub shelf caused a bad signal imbalance to the door speakers? Both cars are 98s with DSP and the rear parcel sub shelf. Speaker models matched. Not sure what could be going on? I also put my ear to the door woofers and they are considerably quieter than the mids and high speakers on the top of the door card.

No amount of changing DSP settings or Treble/Bass really makes any difference. Source is my cell phone on a cassette to aux adapter. Never had issues before. Almost have to say it sounded better on my speakers that had disintegrated surrounds and one missing

To balance your system you'll need to reinstall the deck box. The monsoon upgrade (lots of posts on this) is a good one.

deville had reworked boxes, might be worth a shot to him.

Even without the deck box you should be getting some bass. My sub has been disconnected since I had rear shocks installed but it still sounds adequate.

Did you replace the speakers themselves or the whole assemblies? Does it make a difference if you turn the balance from side to side? Just wondering if somehow you wired them out of phase, effectively cancelling out the bass. I did this on an old VW rabbit. Simply swapping the red and black wired on one speaker fixed the problem. These systems are more complicated so maybe some other issue.

I took the entire enclosure with the speaker in them and wired screwed them into the door. They are just very quiet in comparison to the mids and highs. I doubt the PO of the other car had ever touched these, the car was never messed with. They all sound equally as quiet and playing with the balance and fader work as it should.

Also as far as the rear deck, I though those required 8ohm speakers, wouldn't 4ohm sound worse and cause possible amp damage over time?

My rear subs were all blown, i.e. the foam around the speakers had disintegrated. I found and bought 2 foam repair kits from simply speakers online for a total of ~$60. The install was easy and the subs sound as good as ever.

    Cheers, jt

Yes I think they are 8 ohms. The monsoons are 4 I believe but according to dville’s thread does not seem to adversely effect the amp.
