    What is THIS part?

I was walking toward the front of my '01 740iL yesterday when I saw something handing down on the passenger front side. I laid down and looked up in toward front passenger wheel assembly & sway bar. I’ve circled the part in red in the attached picture. Also drew an arrow to where it was hanging down and rubbing on the …control arm? (I tucked it up out of the way, as in the picture, but, again it was hanging down and rubbing that area I pointed too).

I'm thinking it should be secured to that 'control arm' where the rubbed-area is, as that's the only place it could reach without bending or cramming.

Thanks for any help on what this part is and/or where the other end should be secured. Thank you,

    Jay

Just replaced mine, now aiming perfectly.

Yes just snap the new clamp on. Your auto aiming headlights will not function correctly without it.

I'm guessing that the clamp itself cannot be bought alone, right? My cars has this with a zip tie which is not very effective as it let the clamp rotate on the arm.

This is as small an assembly as can be ordered:

Wells there is your problem = only 1 zip tie. Put more zip ties!

Or get a new assembly per Timm's screenshot

I'll see what I can do to make it a tighter fir, if not then I'll have to order the new part. Thanks!
