Anyone know if Z3 16" wheels fit over stock M brakes. I've got M brakes up front on my Z3 Coupe, and contemplating a set of 16s to go with a set of snow tires. 16s are rather abundant on Craigslist. I've also got a set of Roadstars, to which I could find two more front wheels I guess and run a square setup.

16" wheels will not work with the M brakes.

The stock 17"s barely clear the M brakes
Figured as much; I knew it wouldn't be that easy. Found a set of Style 243 for cheap. 17x7.5, ET43. Never seen them on a Z3, but why not? I'm not going for style points.

Depends on the wheel; Tirerack used to sell__maybe still do?__a tire wheel package for the Ms that used a 16 x 7 Mille Miglia wheel and 225/50 (55?) snowtires in a square setup (18mm spacers @ rear). Those wheels certainly cleared, as I ran them on my black car for eleven (11) seasons.

Randy, no such luck these days.
I've got two sets of wheels currently for the Coupe, both 17x7.5/17x8.5 in styles 68 & two-piece 42. I could just slap snows on the 68s (currently housing A/S tires...all 225/45), but then I have a set of tires with nothing for them to go on. The 42s are reserved for winter refinishing and some sticky rubber next spring.
I've also got a set of Roadstars collecting dust, to which I could add two fronts (can't find two fronts for what I'm willing to pay) and run them square on the Coupe. No rash on my set, but clear coat is flaking and they'd make a perfect winter setup.
I typically wouldn't care and just carpool in the wife's Honda to work, but our work schedules are not aligning anymore and I'm expecting quite a few solo trips to the mountains this winter. I've succumbed to the fact that I might have to spring for a set of snow tires.

Not too shabby for $40/wheel. Only problem is I only found (3) and they're all 17x7.5. Find another 17x7.5 and run square or find two 17x8.5? Keep in mind these are just for snow tires.
