My passenger power seat on my '98 M3, has recently decided to:
1. Go backward, but not forward. Now that it is all the way back, all I hear is a click when I try to go forward. As it is all the way back, I also hear a click when I go backward.
2. The seat back will tilt backward, but will not come forward. I only hear a click when I try and go forward.
3. The seat bottom will go up and down and will tilt.
Any ideas, as I know there are separate motors for each of the functions, but I don't understand why the seat will go in one direction and not the other, as if the gear was broken, it wouldn't go in either direction.
Are the seat bolt heads under the car, or on the seat rails?
I do have a schematic, and I can use a multimeter. Any helps is appreciated.
There are a few gears inside, one of them has likely broke. Replacement piece is about $50.

Match your gear up by color.

Sounds like they are cracked on 2 motors and move in the less stressed direction but skips in the other (square drive stretches the plastic gear open and clicks ) until they break and will not move at all.
