Hey bimmer forums, I’ve been looking at a few 3 series that look like pretty good deals. There’s a 2007 328xi and a 2006 330xi each with about 130k on the clock for $7000. There’s also a 2006 330xi with about 93k for $6500.
I know a lot depends on how it’s been maintained and driven to this point but I’m curious as to what I can expect out of it for reliability and longevity. I heard the non turbos are much more reliable than the turbo versions especially when getting into high mileage.
Finally I was wondering about what I can expect to be spending a year on repairs. I do quite a bit of driving (~12-15k miles a year). This will be my first BMW, to this point I’ve driven mainly Honda’s. I understand repairs are going to be more on the BMW, just looking for a ballpark.

The most important words for you is pre purchase inspection and don't believe any body unless they have paper work to prove it. Let's see oil leaks, valve cover, oil filter stand and oil pan gasket. The oil pan gasket job is more expensive on the xi because othe front wheel drive, electric water pump failure, these repairs may be done around 80-100k, you wouldnt be doing them often and the car you would be looking at may have had some of them done already.
