Saw an e30 on craigslist for $1000, 1985 325e with a manual. Lost title, broken key, needs a battery and a small fuel valve repair and probably a tuneup to get it going mechanically again. Was running and driving fine earlier this summer according to owner. I have negotiated down to $400. Not super mechanically inclined but I do want a project car, not sure if this would be too hard for me. A lot of cosmetic details as well but no major rust or body damage. Any input/advice is welcome.
Hello and welcome to the forum! The best thing I can recommend would be to get a PPI done by an indy BMW shop. This should give you all the info you'll need in deciding whether to pursue this car or not. Other members will likely comment as well, the E30 can be a really solid project car. I'm also attaching a link to our site's DIY tech articles on the E30 platform so that you can see what maintenance and repairs look like. Let us know if you have any other questions or if we can assist with any future part needs.

Rule of thumb is that you will put $2k into most E30's to get them to the level of a solid driver. Another rule of thumb: buy the best example of the car that you want that you can afford.
no title, no-go
No e30s again.
