Cold mornings are upon us and they’ve been making my 07 328xi stall immediately upon startup. This only happens the first start up of the day or if the car sits for several hours during the day. I have to hold the gas pedal down to keep it from stalling, even though this doesn’t change the RPMs. Eventually after 15 seconds or so, it will quit bogging down and rev normally. I notice after driving it, during that initial start and drive, it’ll start to whistle while not on the accelerator. Whistling stops when throttle is applied. If I stop the car and shut it off, or any additional drives that day, there is no whistling. It’s only the initial start up and the initial drive. Cold start stall, bogging down, whistling when off the accelerator. Please help! Thanks!
First step is to have the engine's computer scanned for codes. You'll need a competent BMW scanner, not a generic Autozone scan.

As the master tech has noted, the first step in diagnosing a problem is to scan the engine computer (DME) and the transmission computer (EGS) (if it has an automatic transmission) for codes. I’m betting the whistling noise means you have a vacuum leak. Have the intake smoke tested. Find a reputable indie shop that specializes in bimmers at www.bimrs.org.
