Hello, I am new to BMWs but not new to working on European cars. I haven't found much concrete info on this issue but I apologize if it has been discussed previously.
Comfort access on my new-to-me E91 (LCI) has been having intermittent issues with the driver's side door handle. It worked normally for a couple weeks, and then on random days it would repeatedly try to unlock whenever the key was near the driver's door. Other days it would work normally. Now, it pretty much always behaves as the former (incorrectly), to the point that I unplugged the CA sensor in the driver's door handle for now. The trunk and keyless start work correctly, and I know that the passenger handle is bad (previous owner disconnected it; it gets warm when plugged in so I assume it is internally-shorted).
My question is, is there any way to test if the handle itself is bad (multimeter?), vs the wiring to the handle degrading? Perhaps the wiring could be getting crushed in the door grommet, etc? The driver's side handle does not get warm, but that's pretty much all I've found to look for so far.
Thanks in advance!

Any comfort access issue I've had has been solved by a new door handle.

I see. I'm still curious if there's a way to confirm that the wiring is intact, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a new handle.
On that note, which handles are compatible with E91? Lots of listings show small ranges like "2006-2008", or "only E92", etc. Is that correct or will the handle itself (the painted part) transfer between any E9X?
Thanks.
