Possibly misaligned input drive flange in diff

    Hello,
I just finished replacing input differential seal on my (new to me) 2005 m3.
I marked the shaft, nut, but did not mark the flange because, as I thought, I already had some kind of mark. Actually what I thought was a mark on the outer perimeter of the flange, appears to be a balancing pit, and to my disappointment, there is more than one.
So, after putting it together I have
    1. Marks on the shaft and nut line up - so the flange is driven-in correct depth
    2. flange might be off by about 90 degrees from how I found it.

My question is - could this result in additional vibration due to being out of balance? Is the flange balanced in the factory along with internal diff components (that's why it is not sold separately by BMW)? I am pretty sure it is not balanced together with shaft since they ARE sold separately.

    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

The driveshaft is balanced the attaching parts are not. It's just a rule to mark everything so it goes back in the same position. I guess it could cause a virbration but you would think that would be more related to a stiff u joint than any thing else. When they build the car they just put it in
