Hey Guys I’m new to the forum however trying to get my evaporator done on my e34 535i, it’s a RHD though. Need help I can’t slide it out it hits the top of the pedal assembly frame.
Any tips?
seems not to be so easy, here on the U.K. M5 forum someone shows pics of an E34 M5 RHD evap with the steering column in the way and he is asking how to remove that one http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/topic/124407...of-evaporator/
unfortunately that was the last post and no final answer.
Replacing the filter on RHD E34 cars is pretty straightforward as long as you can find a new two piece filter. If the filter is a one piece unit it will not go past your peddles.

comment by myles from Australia: When I did it, I gave up following instructions because they were only for LHD. I removed the whole dashboard including the top and loosened the hvac box from the firewall until I could get the evaporator out.

additional comment by an E34 owner from Sydney:
I just removed the side pieces and the steering column to do the filter, TX valve and AC pipe seals. They were easy, but you must treat all the (IIRC) T27 torx nuts with respect. To do the evaporator may take a lot more, but once the centre dash is out its a matter of opening the casing and looking- IIRC it isn't so bad as you can open the HVAC box but I didn't'. AC EVAP has to come out after the heater core though as it is located before the heater core (as the air blows).
