    M52tub28 into 99 323i

New to BMWs.. got a 323i with a bad m52tub25, found a b28 for sale locally for cheap.. internet research makes the swap sound easy.. bolts right in, may need to use my intake.

dme, will need flashed... where/who can do this fr what cost?

If I wanted to do a m54b30... how much more work?

    My car is a 99 323i auto

    Thank you

You can run the stock tune. It'll run just fine. Might run better with a reflash but it's not necessary.

Your intake is the same as the one used on the 2.8. Identical.

The B30 is not much more work at all. You may need to swap some sensors. Depends on the production dates of your engine and the donor engine. I just dunked an M52TUB28 into my 03 325 and the sensors were all the same.

As for the 3.0... it would be an m54, correct?

Is the 54 better then the 52?

The 3.0 would cost an additional 300$ or so from my engine supplier.

That's the only double VANOS 3.0 I'm aware of.

The 3.0 has a more aggressive intake cam and a little more displacement than the 2.8. Other than that, same head and valves. One advantage the 2.5 and 2.8 M52TU engines have is the oil control rings. The M54B25 and B30 rings seem much more prone to sticking and increased oil consumption. My experience with the M52TUB28 in particular is that it goes 15k between changes without using a drop. I've owned two M54 engines, one 2.5 and one 3.0 and both liked to use oil.
