What 3 series wagon would you buy

I am looking to buy a 3 series wagon. All wheel drive is a must. To be clear I'm a BMW noob and need some help. Not interested in new. I want to buy a reliable all wheel drive wagon that is bomber and ready for long road trips. Help me choose the year make and model.

For long term reliability, if you buy used I suggest a non-turbo model. Many owners don't take good care of turbos and they're expensive to rebuild. The 328 series is still quick without going to the 335-turbo series. I love turbo cars (I have a 1983 280ZX Turbo) but there are differences in maintenance.

I have a 2008 328xi with 127K miles on it, and it runs great.

Diesel would be great except they never built an AWD or a wagon for North American market.

Either an E46 325xi or an E90 328xi would be good choices.

Um, I currently daily an AWD 3 series wagon with a 2.0 diesel, which gets great gas mileage, and makes great power. Stock, the 328d was a high 14-15 second quarter mile car.
F3x chassis is actually more simplified than E9x, and more matured in terms of electronics, making them much more reliable.

F3x series, of course! My brother drives a 328d touring as well. For some reason I was thinking the OP had specified older models but he did not!

    Thanks for correcting me!!
