Go frikkin figure. I just found a head unit, controller dial, and screen for $550 on ebay, but that said it was for E90's. All the E61 CIC's I can find start at $800 or so, and need some wiring work, along with new dash trim. That Android conversion keeps looking better and better.

Livin the dream!
E60 CIC should work. E61 would be rare or Euro. Be patient. Contact some of the sellers of the E90 ones.
But those putting together the kits for the more common 3 series may be able to do an E60 kit.
For what it is worth the car with a little tweaking is a blast to drive. i have owned quite few BMWs over years and one of them currently is a 2010 535xi, with Dinan stage 3 tune, RD Swaybars front and rear. It is very comfortable and with 400hp on tap it, all wheel drive, it moves & hauls. Total sleeper.
I am still looking for a great 535 wagon with a stick shift. Hoping spring brings them out.

I picked up an 07 530xi wagon with a 6 speed manual yesterday with 170,000 miles on it for $4,500. Couple mechanical issues, but nothing major. So far I love it. The giant sunroof is amazing.
The member with the $3k 535i project converted his auto car to a manual and reported the details. An xi might be a little more complicated if the auto and manual drive shafts differ but if you get all the parts from a donor 535xi manual you can get what you need. Adds some work and expense but if it’s what you really want and you can’t find one of the few manual 535xi wagons, converting is an option.
