2007 530XI faulty AUX input

I just purchased a 2007 530XI and after reading the comments section I found the AUX input in the armrest. Only problem is the AUX input that is in the armrests does not seem to work. But if I hook up to the AUX input at the back of the armrest it works fine. Any ideas what could cause this to happen or things to try. Last 7 of the VIN are CU21468 if that helps at all. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

On my '07 530xi, I only have the one aux input behind the armrest. It's possible a previous owner tried to install a second concealed aux input and failed (or did a crappy job).

A much better solution is to install a Bluetooth module in the armrest console so that you can stream your music without wires.
