I just bought a used 2007 Z4 3.0si Coupe. It came with only one key, so I went to the dealer and ordered a new key. It arrived a few days later. The dealer gave me instructions on how to program the new key, which I did. The new key now works fine. But the old key no longer works as a remote, although it works in the door lock and in the ignition. Coincidence? What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes. You have to sync all keys at same time. Check this video out (from 21:57 time):

Thanks. Very informative. But I did not do the second key at the same time, and now it appears to be too late. I tried programming the second key, and I even tried reprogramming the new key, and then programming the old key. Nothing seems to work. But the new key does still work. GRRR.

I'd be calling the dealer who gave me instructions asking for assistance.
Not in a mad or brutal way.. Simply tell them the same thing you mentioned above and see if they are willing to help.

Seriously, they sold you the key for $300 or so , the least they can do is help you program it to make sure it works well AND not charge you 30min of service time
Actually, it was a mere $197. I went back with the old key. The tried and tried to get the old key to work, to no avail. So it is no longer a remote key, but only a physical key.
