Hey what’s up everyone, I’m in a process of doing a turbo build on my 94 vert .
I’m about to lift up the head in a day or two , depending on when my timing locking blocks get here.
i know there’s been a lot of debate on this but I’m running a cometic mls hg (.140/85) so my question is,who has gotten away with just machining the head and not the block? I’ve seen a lot of different views on this . Some say it has to be decked and some say I can get away with just really prepping the block with a scotch bring and other materials?

I only had the head machined. Along with my friend who had been running 16-18psi on his s50. We both cleaned the block really well but there’s no way in hell the surfaces were near what they should have been. I personally have only run 7psi so far. Neither of us had any issues yet but it’s most likely inevitable. If you can go for a more reliable option, do it. I assumed I could only do mls because the block was in the car the whole time. Idk if it’s reasonable to do cut-ring without removing the motor, but if you can avoid an mls, why use one? I only plan to run 14psi or so. So your mls will work if you prep the surface by hand, but for how long, and how much boost can you get away with is probably the question. I have regrets, but I stopped worrying about it because I’m not going back now.
