Among standard air filters for the BMW i am going to assume that MANN is the choice among most owners. I ordered a German made Mann (some made in Mexico I understand) and it did not has the white strip pre-filter at the top back side of the filter like the dirty one that I pulled out of the car. Any reason for that ? design change?

What 11 digit BMW part number did you order? Or did you shop/purchase just generically shopping for a "filter" for you model?

If there are multiple types of filters for you model's nomenclature...shopping with the correct part number for the part you want is better than just shopping for a "filter"...again there may be multiple types of filters available if you don't educate yourself to what's available and shop accordingly for the part you want.
