    Sourcing Conv Parts

Can you suggest a company with a full selection of vert parts, and with good pricing. It appears I need a new top motor (am I really looking at $1000?) among other parts. In your experiences, can used parts make sense???? thanks

Contact Greg (66 6). He is a member here and can hook you up with parts.

Yes, I recommend used parts, and have replaced all three of my motors as well as window regulators and many other things with used parts over the years.

For used parts I can't comment on using Greg 66 6. I have used ebay/kijiji/craigslist for some. For used convertible top motors you have to be really carefull about existing wear. I bought a used front top motor that still had the infamous crack in in so ended up useless. For new parts look up the part number in realoem. Once you have it I really like Husker BMW for new parts. Their prices are about as good as it gets. I ended up getting my new motor from them.

You should note that if its a motor itself and not the gearing or casing which is the problem you can always try to repair the motor. I did this on several of my seat motors with great success.

I purchased a new top motor from GermanAutoParts.com for $481 in 2007 and replaced it myself. I imagine prices have gone up in 11 years. I also like FCP Euro, BavAuto, Bavarian Auto Recycling -- and you can always check eBay. I bet there are plenty of used motors available.
