    Temp Gauge?

ok so I have a 2004 524i with about 123k miles on it now, the engine looks to be in excellent shape but every once in awhile when I get out of the car I can smell oil burning and it smells like its from under the car near either my door or the passenger door because it can be strong when it does it and u open the doors, I'm wondering if maybe the engine is running hot, besides the temp gauge in the hidden obd-2 menu I have heard that these lines behind the tach are another temp gauge does anyone know if this Is true? I have included a pic and if this is true does mine look about where it should be or am I running hot?

You likely have a leaky valve cover gasket. Find a reputable indie shop in your area at www.bimrs.org. The hidden OBC readout is for the coolant temperature. It needs to be between 95*C and 100*C when the engine at operating temperature.
