Top not responding to using the key in the drivers door lock

    Hi all,
just picked up a nice vert.
a few issues with the top.
the top won’t go up with the key in the door lock. Is this a standard feature? It’s in the manual! Should be working.,!
also when I hit the button I can hear the actuator in the boot/ trunk lock clicking a lot. It all works fine but not with the key.
anyideas how to fix these issues? Thanks from Australia!

The clicking is the tonneau motor about to fail. At some point there was interference most likely with the top and the gears did not mesh causing them to chip against each other. Remove your tonneau motor and see if the gears are aligning correctly. Sometimes you can bend the plates back to the correct position but depending on the condition of the gears you may not have long before it completely fails.
Not sure why the key is not working for you. It is a standard feature. Maybe the Germans have something against Aussies!
