I have a '03 325CI, with 103,280 miles. Humming comes on, not sure form where, just know that it gets louder the faster i go. Once I reach around 35 to 40 miles per hour it begins and it seems that the car starts to vibrate as well.
The rear wheel bearing where replaced about 2 years ago, so not sure what this might be. Could it be the differential oil? Help not sure want to go to a dealer as they are expensive.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Probably best to perform an inspection of the suspension/drivetrain/chassis while vehicle is on a lift,
would make it much easier to diagnose problem correctly.
Possibility of this being a safety issue, perform ASAP!
It could be any number of things.... I've had vibration issues tied to speed that were related to alignment, wheel issues, brake issues, etc. The last issue I had was due to uneven tread wear on directional tires that couldn't be rotated. No amount of balancing could fix it, so tires had to be replaced with ridiculously low miles.
