840ci Temperature Gauge

Hey, My 840's engine temperature keeps spiking up for a couple minutes then it normally goes back to normal. It does this repeatedly when I drive the car. I was wondering what the problem could be. Im thinking it is the radiator, but I have read some things that are saying it could be the temperature sensor. Any suggestions what it could be would help!

My water temp will read normal for weeks then it will drop to zero for a short period then going over a bump in the road when turning left will pop back to normal.
Been doing this for years and nobody has found out why I have spent hours looking at the wiring.

Had exact the same issue. Replaced temp sensor on water pump housing - all went back to normal.
