My ‘95 840Ci radiator let go and none of the usual wholesales (WorldPac, SSF, etc) carry it and FCP only has a genuine BMW. I’d really rather not have to pay $500 for a radiator when I know I can usually get a Behr for a 1/3 of that.
Nissens brand seems to be a popular choice. I bought a project car a while back and started working on it about a year ago and it already had a Nissens radiator in it.

My project car was not running at time of purchase. Re-sealed manifolds which lead to re-timing cams, and a lot of other work.

I’ve used a couple nissens and they never fit right in other bmws unfortunately.
This is suppose to be a good radiator, all aluminum, but its not stock, and its pricey: http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/s...inum-radiator/
Yeah that’s overkill.
I have NISSENS in both our 850 and 840 without issue. Bought the last one from ROCKAUTO...

Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Yea most everything Behr Hella for old cars is made in china now, not much you can do about it. But the quality is still good in my experience.
I am overly biased on this. I just don't like radiators with plastic tanks. They are all going to fail eventually but I would rather have it be repairable at a radiator shop then buy another crappy plastic throwaway. We have fairly decent quality cars and in my opinion this is a worthwhile upgrade. I bet in the very long run, the quality part will pay for itself.
Probably not seeing as how they last about 10 years and cost like $250 compared to $800+ for an aluminum one. I could replace a factory one 3 times before I got my money out of an aluminum one.
Plus, E60s come factroy with aluminum tank radiators and they still fail fairly regularly. It’s a gimmic.
Yes, you are correct, my Behr (I think) has been in there about 8 years, but when it fails it goes. I grew up in a era where there was hardly any plastic on cars. If it was plastic, it was cheap. I still feel that way. I had Maserati's before they had 5 mile an hour bumpers and they were made of stainless. No plastic noses and bumper covers. No plastic intake manifolds, no plastic fans or fan shrouds. Plastic dries up becomes brittle and cracks. I just don't care for it.
I plan on keeping this car a long time and I want to eliminate the plastic parts wherever I can. Just my preference.
