    E70 to F15 “upgrade” - did I make a mistake?

I’ve had my 2008 X5 4.8i for 6 years and generally think it’s a great vehicle. Sport, luxury, cold weather and tech packages so pretty much loaded. it’s been generally very reliable.

A few few months ago I started getting the itch for a new X5 and picked up a 2015 X5 5.0. Great motor, but it just doesn’t have the same feel as my E70- somehow it feels less sporty. The steering is not the same, almost too easy and a disconnected feel from the road. The ride is much softer even in sport mode with more body roll.

I’m sort of feeling like I made a mistake. To others that have done similar upgrades, am I off base here? What are your thoughts about the E70 vs. the F15?

I've been looking for an e70 diesel for the longest, wife likes the f15 look, so we test drove one. What a horrible ride, let nothing like a BMW, I hated it and the wife didn't care too much for it. i had driven a e70 35i and was very impressed with the performance and handling, so i let her drive one, and she said it drove different, coming from her thats a big deal. but we need better gas mileage so i decided on the 35d. so to answer your question, I'd say yeah you made a mistake. trade it in for the G20, that thing looks sick, and i read BMW is going back to building BMW so i hope it feels like it

Yeah, as I have more drive time with it I’m convinced it needs a firmer ride. Wish I could have found a 5.0i with M sport package. I’m looking at options to stiffen it up. I’ll probably start by changing out the 19” rims for 20” or 21” and then change out the springs if necessary.

    But that motor....wow.
