    m52tu engine adaptation reset

    Hello,

I have replaced my throttle body on my '98 328i, as cleaning no longer does the trick. The one that came off was with the "blue label", currently installed is one with the "yellow label"(second hand).
Car is running, no more ASC/EML lights, but runs like crap - misfires, low on power...
I do believe before marking this throttle body as faulty there is procedure of resetting the engine adaptations.
Can anyone share the exact steps of how to?
    Thanks in advance!

The ability to reset engine adaptions will depend on the scanner you are using. Some will, others will not.

With INPA running on a computer, log into the DME and read the error codes. There will be a tab called adaptions, hitting it will clear the adaptions. Link to INPA below.

Alternatively, just drive the car and after about 1 or 2 tanks of gas, the adaptions will change themselves to match the car's setup.

Did you fit the rubber tubes to the throttle body and idle control valve correctly? The misfires and lack of power almost sound like a bad vacuum leak.

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
