Hey all,
5 years ago I gave my father my 2003 M5 as I regularly saw him drooling over it and knew that, eventually it would have to be his. (It helped that he took over the last half of the payments so that I could buy my Focus ST.) For 2 years it was his baby but then I bought him a 1964 Land Rover Series IIA which took the spot in his heart. Around that time, the M5 developed some electrical gremlins which eventually resulted in the car not starting (the assumption was a dead battery). Then, for 2.5 years the car unfortunately sat in the driveway, not being driven. Fast forward to today and I have the car back in my possession, in my driveway, cleaned up and ready to drive.
The battery was toast so I bought a new one and installed it last night. All of the lights come on, the windows work, etc but unfortunately, the car won't start. When I go to turn on the ignition it won't even try to crank. I hear something electric under the car turn on (fuel pump?) but that is it. I hooked up my code reader but it didn't show any codes. Anyone have any ideas of what to try?
I just bought one that has been sitting for awhile as well. I have the same issue. Mine is in the shop now. I'll let you know what they determine the source to be.
That would be wonderful! Thank you so very much! My email is rockandride6@yahoo.com if email is easier!
They havent fully figured it out yet but we believe its is related the alarm system. to be continued...
I ended up hopping the clutch switch and, sure enough, one crank later we're in business!
First check fuel related fuses and starter fuse.
How many keys do you have?
Does the engine turn over?
