Connector pin pushed inside headlight (e36 Depo)

Unable to find anything on this, I was connecting a new PnP harness to my drivers side Depo headlight and one of the four pins pushed inside the head light when I was trying to push the harness connector onto it

Does anyone know how to remove the connector from the head light so I can push the pin back through the connector from the back side?

It rotates, and it looks like the outer part should twist inside the inner part, allowing tabs to align and the outer part pull out. But it wonít pull out.

    Thanks for any help.

Just unscrew the nut around it to set it free from the housing. Majority of pins have to little "ears" that are bent out thus locking them to the housing. Take the pin out and look for those ears, push them outwards ~ 20degreed and lock the pin back into connector housing.

Thanks, I was hesitant to keep twisting it because I didnít know if it was threaded, and I was afraid I might make things worse by twisting up the wires behind it.

    Iíll give that a go.

I got the nut off, but the connector will not pull out of the headlight housing. There is a plastic flange around it on the inside of the housing that is larger than the hole, preventing it from coming out. Now the whole connector is loose and the nut does not do anything to keep it tight when placed back on. Luckily all the rotating of the connector to get the nut off pushed the pin back through enough that I was able to grab it with needle nose pliers an pull it back in place.

Just putting this here for future reference, I don't think those connectors can be removed at all from the back side, and I've ended up worse than where I started since the connector is now loose in the housing and can rotate freely, the outer gray plastic nut does nothing to hold it in place. I don't think it will cause an issue but isn't ideal.

I am 99% sure it comes out through inside of the housing.
