I have a BMW 528i xDrive with Navi Professional.
Having purchased the service of USB map update I was supposed to be able to download the latest maps for my car, put them in a USB stick, but with no success.
On my mac (MacOS Sierra) after having downloaded the maps, there is absolutely no way to copy them on a USB stick. It requires a medium with at least 34GB free space (for 2018-2 update), formatted with FAT32.
I have tried numerous USB sticks with FAT32 and also ExFAT but to no avail.
I also tried creating a disk image.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

What year is your car? I just went through this with my '15 535i and it went smoothly: downloaded the files (takes a long time at 25 megabits/sec), formatted my USB stick to ExFAT, loaded the files onto the stick plugged it into the USB port in the glove box and it automagically updated the maps (took about 45 minuets).
No, ExFAT did not work for me. Download Manager did not accept it.
My car is a ‘14 528i.
At the end, I found the zip file in a hidden folder and loaded manually the contents on the USB stick.
EDIT: I performed the upgrade perfectly with this trick.

Where did you purchase your map upgrade and how much did it cost?
From BMW directly I bought 2-year inscription for digital maps download, for 99€.
