Hello gents,
Please help me assess the condition of this brand new purchase. Received and unboxed yesterday Sep 28, 2018.
Clutch kit "LUK RepSet 03-030 contents: Pressure plate | Clutch disk | Throw out bearing | Pilot bearing | Alignment tool
Questionable items: Pressure plate and throw out bearing.
Observation (pardon layman terms):
1. The inner ridge of the "contact plate" has dents scattered in one area (pics attached). Even though the dents are inward I can feel some tiny outward material with my fingers. Most likely all the outward bits of metal will wear and even out with first clutch contact but I wanted to check with you guys first.
2. Throw out bearing. [Please click to see GIF]. Basically the inner part has a HUUUGE play. My failed bearing doesn't do that but truth be told this ring is pressed into the bearing. Is this play normal??
3. Pressure plate "compression legs" have a mark outside, as if there already was a round bearing pressing on them. Is it a sign of them being used or it's a mark from factory quality testing?
4. New pressure plate has concentric track lines while the old one is smooth like a mirror. are those track grooves supposed to wear out? What's their purpose?
Should I contact the seller and start RMA procedure?
Please help and thanks!

you are seeing "shelf wear". the parts got knocked around some during manufacture. Nothing to worry about.
Chances are the slight nicks on the plate edge won't be in the contact area. You could certainly smooth them down if you can feel anything raised up.
The concentric lines are the machined surface which you are comparing to a worn version, this is how it should look.
