I know Amazon is inundated with counterfeit parts. I bought a few "Samsung" cell phone chargers that burned my fingers when I touched them;
I want to order two Magnaflow 59956 catalytic converters. On Summit, they are $102 each.
On Amazon, with Prime shipping, they are $55 each. Seems too good to be true?
Anyone know if there's an issue with Magnaflow products being knocked-off?
I called Magnaflow and asked if I should be leery of buying Magnaflow on Amazon. These particular cats are available through nearly 80 sellers on Amazon.
The guy I spoke with at Magnaflow said that if the seller is actually Amazon, they should be genuine. But he was incredulous at the Amazon price, stating it was close to cost.
He told me of a few markings to look for on the cats to verify their authenticity but he sounded genuinely befuddled as to the Amazon price.
Order placed. Follow-up to come.

Haven't heard of them being counter-fitted but you never know now a days. Good thing is that Amazon's return policy is great so if they don't check out you can send em right back lol
I bought a pair of cheap 2.5" Flowmaster cats on Amazon, they showed up and seem completely legit. They were $50 each.
The cats and mufflers arrived. If these are knockoffs, someone is really making an effort to make them seem legit. The boxes look 100% and the etching on the cats match what the rep at Magnaflow told me I should expect to find.
Amazon was nearly 50% cheaper than Summit, Jegs, etc.
