My question is, is it worth it?
I have the opportunity to purchase a complete e24 with the associated 4 speed manual trans at a stellar price. To my knowledge the e24 trans parts can work on the e23 however most opt for a five speed swap (for obvious reasons).
I am currently driving a auto 735i with a trans fault light and am weighing the odds of troubleshooting the auto trans error (forced into 3rd gear/reverse) or pulling it and swapping this trans setup.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice!
You won't be happy with a 4spd, hence the reason everyone goes with a 5spd- Look up gixxerboy here, he has a complete 5spd conversion for your car-
he's here also-

You have an electrical fault dude.
Relay. Fuse. Case connector. Not much else to die.
I make E23 parts.
