    Anyone lose an E31???

Saw this hiding in a yard in Tijuana. Was going to talk to the homeowner. No one was home. Didn't feel comfortable about nosing around it.

Looks like it's been sitting there awhile. Checks with the cops to see if it was stolen?

Not yet. It was last registered either 2008 or 2013 based on the year tag color. I do have a friend that may be able to check the plate to see if it is stolen. Might be able to get the VIN too. Wonder if it has a manual trans?

    Not reported stolen:

Although this search capability is a little scary.

Ok. So I was back in he area today and there were a few guys working on cars in the yard. Soooo.... I asked some questions about the car and took a few more pictures. They were ok with talking about the car. They didn't own it. But they guy across the street did. There was a 4 door Mercedes parked in front of his house (also looked liked it has been sitting there awhile too.). They didn't know if it was for sale and told me to go ask if I was interested. They also said that he knew what he had as far as it being collectable. Indicated that it had a bad motor. Getting a closer look at it indicates to me that it is, at best, a parts car. Interior was in worse shape than the exterior. Center console was out. No OBC, radio, heat control, or facia. The passenger rear window has been down for a long time. Looks like the car has been sitting since 2008 (last registration tag). The paint has some clear coat missing. I guess I'll put some photos here and on 8coupe.com for documentation purposes.

Yep, definitely looks like an organ donor - especially if the motor is bad. Not quite a 'barn' find, but interesting.

I'll be damned. I think that's my old calypso 850i. I recognize the VIN and the wheels. I sold it to a Persian mechanic who had a Spanish wife and I presume he traveled to Mexico a lot. The car needed work even back then, which is why i parted with it, (but not anywhere as bad as it looks now), because I already had 2x 840s. Too bad seeing the car in 100 times worse shape than 10 years ago.
