ASC Light ON and Will Not Go Out

This means the system is OFF... I swapped the switch and unplugged/re-plugged the harness to the ABS Module.

The little I did find in searching suggested a broken wire somewhere in that harness but I never found a resolution.

    Is this the likely culprit?

Two things have caused this on mine in the past

Leak from hydro unit running along the outside and down into the wire connector

    Wheel sensor gone bad

Check the ASC motor and cable. The system runs the motor at startup and if the extend/retract signals aren't present the ASC light will turn on.

I know my cruise control isn't working.. have another unit to install so can check these then.. Thanks for the idea.
I like having the ASC working in snow... gives me a heads up when I'm sliding with that grab and I can adjust when otherwise I might not notice until its too late.

I'll second this. Somehow my ASC cable became dislodged and was just flopping around in the engine bay - triggering the ASC light that absolutely would not turn off. As soon as the cable was re-seated, the light went away and the functionality returned.
