    Oil leak, need help!

Okay so a couple of weeks ago I decided to buy myself a 1995 325i vert. Not too long after I brought it home I noticed there has been oil leaking and leaving spots in my driveway. Ever since then I have been looking trying to see what the best course of action would be to get this to stop, there seems to be oil only in the drivers side area of the engine bay... there's oil coming from behind the oil filter canister (which I'm assuming is an area where oil is leaking from) and it seems as if it's going all the way down to the steering rack and is getting on everything... before the oil change I didn't see as much oil, granted before the oil change there was hardly any oil I the car. I'm not sure how I should approach this, can anyone point me in the right direction?

A common leak in that area is the oil filter housing and the oil line in the same area. Replace both and look for the valve cover to leak too.

Yea the oil filter housing gasket is a common leak point, It is similar to an o-ring and with age it gets hard and allows leaking. Remove the alternator, loosen the power steering pump and let it hang. Then there are 6 bolts holding the oil filter housing to the side of the engine block.

Here is a link to what you need, the kit has shiny new bolts that aren't necessary but has links to the vanos line and crush washers. Just add them individually. Lifetime warranty and excellent service from FCPEuro.

For some reason BMW calls this hose the "vanos pipe", I had a hard time finding one at first but realoem.com is a great resource for looking up part numbers. Order the crush washers at the same time, they don't come with the hose and you need 4 new ones.
