Hi all, I have just bought 325xi touring (2001/ 203k kms)and fixed oil leaks and revised like vanos to bring performance back but still my 0-100 is around 12sec. I have steptronic tranny. Idle is normal, reving without problem but my top speed is around 210kms and I started to think that these values are normal for this age car. I really wonder is your 325s similiar or I have a problem about sth
Performance should not drop by more than 0.2sec no matter the age. Some get faster with more miles because of engine and drivetrain break in. 210km top speed isnt too far off of the factory top speed.
As I know previous owners used it a bit too tamed. After oil leak fixes, I started to push it to top speed and it was 180kms. It didn't go even 1km more. Second day it is 190 and 3 hours later it goes till 210km and road end. Keep pushing limits will help about top speed and I will try with dsc off acceleration tomorrow. If the acceleration time dropped to 10sec, I would be happy with that.
Acelleration drop down to 10.8 sec at the moment. After I push another top speed, I will check anything change and related with this.
It definately should not drop that much. Do you push it all the way down to the kickdown? Does the kickdown switch work? How far does it rev before it shifts?
My e46 325i with almost 200k miles ran quite well. The rings are valves were worn due to dirt ingestion but the power was good.
If the engine runs smoothly and the oil consumption is reasonable then the engine integrity is good. I would make sure the DISA valve is operating correctly, they don't always fail in a way that causes a major air leak and misfires. Replace the engine air filter if it is not fresh.
