I'm having an issue with the GM steptronic transmission in my 328. No, it's not the usual "no reverse" problem, as I've already replaced the TCC solenoid.
The issue I'm having is with the kickdown switch activating. (or lack of activation)
I've been working on BMW's and other german cars for over 20 years, so I'm no novice, but I'm looking for someone who has maybe had the same issue, and can give me some solid advice, or at least point me in the right direction.
ISSUE: No kickdown activation - literally, and INPA won't show the kickdown switch being activated when pedal is fully pressed.
The transmission shifts good, pulls great in all gears, and other than the kickdown issue, it's good.
WHAT I'VE DONE: Checked the proper activation of the switch (removed, bench tested the switch, it works perfectly, nice "click" sound, multimeter shows perfect function) - I've traced the wire back to the TCM, pin 17, and have confirmed that I don't have a broken wire.
I've been through every tab, page, and activation of INPA for the trans, everything check out ok, no fault codes, and as far as the transmission knows, there's no problems. In conclusion; switch is good, adjusted properly in height, and wire leading to the TCM is good (I checked physical activation of the kickdown switch at the TCM connector and it checks out ok)
I've only had the car for a short while, and it's done it since I've bought it, so it's not a "new" problem.
I'm looking for advice from someone who may have had this same issue, and possible corrective measures. Any help is greatly appreciated. |
