Looking to sell my '01 shorty sport DN87211. Black Black, 213k miles. Lots of money invested in this car, however it does have issues that require more time and money. I was going to get rid of it a while ago but could not bring myself to part it out, so instead picked up some used rust free doors and installed them, and have been tinkering around with it. I am getting to the point though of wanting to do something other than lay under a car all weekend. Plenty of other projects.
The car runs and drives fine. Transmission shifts perfectly. Guides done at 178k. New power steering pressure hose. Engine while running fine has a heavy lifter tap when driving under load. Embarassingly loud. Occasionally the CEL comes on for secondary air and/or O2 sensor. Checked the cats and a couple are hollowed out. Nothing is clogged though. Has decent tread Continental Extreme Contact summer tires, 235 fronts, 285 rears. Also included are a set of winter tires on mpar reps. Battery is a year old.
Exterior looks decent on the driver's side, passenger side not as good. The replacement doors were not really all that nice, meaning the paint is not great and there are dings. But they are not rusty, so there's that. There are other surface rust spots that have been sanded down and painted with black rustoleum. Yep. Looks pretty decent from 20'. Brand new windshield and windshield molding.
Most of the suspension has been replaced within the last 40k miles. Front struts not done but I have them sitting in my office. Recently replaced rear guide links, had it aligned and state inspected.
Interior is pretty much the car's strong suit. Seats are nice with no rips, but driver's side bolster is a bit flattened. Memory seats do not work. Has front and rear heated seats. Front and rear cupholders are working! Summer and winter floor mats included. Headliner has decided to start to sag, but only because I stupidly mentioned that it was not sagging. Idiot. Also the cloth of the sunroof shade is missing. Has Mark IV nav upgrade with latest firmware and annoying British lady giving directions. Will not read DVD discs but reads CDs just fine. I have a CD in there now.
You can see what I have done and the ridiculous amount of money dumped into this car in my thread:

On to the pictures:
Pic below is with the old nav software. New nav has the M splash screen.
I would ask $2,000 for this car. Is that a fair price? I have no idea. Really, it is worth zero. I should have just parted it out. But as I said I could not bring myself to do this. So for $2000 you get:
$500 worth of mpars and summer tires.
$500 worth of sport seats.
$125 worth of cupholders.
$375 worth of winter tires and wheels.
$500 worth of this and that.
I would hop in the car and drive it anywhere.
Quite a deal! Make an offer.
Alternatively, anyone have a good used M62tu for sale? LMK.

Will sell cheaper if you don’t want the winter wheels.
Where is the car located? Thanks
Rutland, Vermont
$1000 without the winter wheels and spare parts.
You're just asking me to buy all your E38s 😂
Take 500? Im in rhode island
Hell no, I will smash it with a sledgehammer before I took $500. There's plenty of others on craigslist you can get for $500.
I think I'll just keep it anyway. Had someone interested but selling would make me sad so might as well just ride it out at this point. Thanks everyone for looking.
