    Meeners' Z3 M Roadster

I don't post much, but figured I'd share some shitty pictures of my clown slipper. After owning/building a few different f/i roadsters I am happy I upgraded to the Z3M. I really like how simple these cars are. The out of the box torque of the S series supersedes the BP, SR, and FA variants N/A. This is the first time in 16 years I've not had the urge to modify a vehicle. Other than the subframe bushing kit, hardtop, wheels, and subframe strengthening I don't plan on doing anything else. Now that I have publicly lied to myself about modifications, onto the the plethora of financial self deceit.

Here's a few eerily inconsistent and out of date pics of the rig.

Thanks man... I really think it finishes the Z's off. I feel it makes it better looking than the coupes ::ducks::

Also, I see your ti. That's my other favorite 3 series cousin. If I didn't have a z it would be one of those for sure.

a Z3 M coupe is the first 'M' car I drove... it was awesome. Yours looks great and I bet it looks even better in person, the proportions are so tough and wide, people love the MCoupe as they should, but the M roadster is quite nice!

Hey Thanks! I love me some MCoupe too, but I could never find one in my area in the right price range. I would love the extra cargo in the back. After rocking the hardtop for a while, I really do think it looks better than the Coupe - However the coupe will always have more prestige. Nonetheless, great cars. I love your e36!

    1. Got a chance to do a few things over the past few months. I swapped the GIANT 245/45's out for a less cumbersome 225/40 and it made everything work better with zero rubbing. I also got the Randy Forbes Reinforcement Kit installed last year before it got too cold. In celebration I took the Z out on a couple back road trips to shake it down. What an improvement. Rear end felt more tied together, and finally got rid of the shifty feeling. There was a little to be desired from the stock suspension though... Here's a pic from the last back road ride with the Porsche Club. Estoril Blue's crashed the party.

    2. Decided it was time to upgrade the suspension. I settled on Ground Control kit with Koni adjustables for the frnt and TC Kline Rear with koni adjustables for the z3/e30. I opted to ditch the 550 rear springs (They were too soft) and go for the shorty 700# springs. I also added the TC Kline rear Coilover sleeve kit. Pic is from the for sale ad (I'm crappy about taking pics). I got the lower budget adjustable Koni's in the rear (no external adjustment). I set the shocks to about a little under half and figured if I need to adjust later I will.

    4. Pictures taken from TCK's site. I ordered 700# springs, they look like this.
    https://www.tcklineracing.com/Displa...ing_SHORT3.jpg

    5. Again, from TCK's website. These are the adjusters I ordered.
    https://www.tcklineracing.com/webdoc...Details381.cfm

    6. During installation. I ended up ordering some helper springs directly from Eibach to help the springs stay seated on heavy rebound (track time, lifting up the car), but found out the hard way that the metal spring couplers hit the GC sleeve on the way down and bound up. When we dropped the car it looked like a monster truck. So we had to take the top apart and remove the helper completely. Not the end of the world.

    7. My friend helped me get the car knocked out in 4 hours even with the above mishap. I haven't had time to get any good pictures but I'll update soon. These were the only phone pics I took at Tire Discounters once I realized they were closed. I need an alignment before I can drive anywhere so I will update with new pics then. Overall I'm VERY impressed with how much the car handles. I forgot to mention that I swapped the top hats in front to see how I like it. Once it's aligned I'll share my feedback. I need to let the car settle in the garage for a few days and then I'll go back and readjust height. It looks like it needs to drop just a little bit more in the front.

Stunning. Neighbor has a white Z3M original owner. I’ve bugged him for over 7 years and he will never budge on letting it go haha.

Put in a little elbow grease and cleaned them up while I'm waiting on a few parts. So far, I have my new pads front and rear, E46 CSL rotors, Rear E38 rotors, stainless lines front and rear, as well as my Motive speed bleeders. The only thing I'm waiting on are my brake brackets, and my rebuild kits. Will take pics of the other parts if their is interest. I'm inspecting the calipers this weekend to see if any pistons will need to be replaced. I was intending to have them powdercoated, but after cleaning them up I'm a little perplexed. They turned out to be a little better in person than the seller pictures... they have 71k miles (verified with VIN) and they cleaned up very well. I might just do a little touch up paint in the nicked areas instead.

Well, have to take a short hiatus on the car... I broke my heel bone (calceneus) in half this week as well as fractured the back of the heel. Still waiting on a few parts anyway

Waiting on parts for your heel or the car? Now that that’s out of the way, I fractured my last three knuckles last week checking under the hood at my radiator leak when the hood dampers have out and the hood shut on my hand.

Well, it's almost been a year.... my broken heel bone is healed and I'm about 85% aside from a few ligaments/tendons. I've gone through a ton of PT and I can walk. Most importantly, I can use a clutch again. Not much has been done to the car since the injury aside from a clutch master cylinder and my stock clutch pedal assembly being replaced. I had an opportunity to take the car out to a Z-Coupe event down in West Virginia and the car did wonderful. The car sat over the winter and I've jumped over to work on a v8 swap for my G37 Sedan. Now that things have settled down I'm finally amped to work on the Z again.

I still have a little trouble working on the ground due to my foot injury so I decided to have the Porsche brembo's installed at a local Euroshop close to home while I continue to allow my ligaments and tendons to heal. The brembos are finally on the Z and I'm just waiting on two crossover lines from Porsche to get in to complete it. Unfortunately, because of the Style 65 spoke depths, the wheels cannot be fitted without a 20mm spacer (we measured). Not very desirable. With the spacers installed the front wheels will rub the front bumper. So, it really pains me to say that I may have to change my wheel setup. Pretty big bummer since the style 65 is my favorite OEM BMW wheel. I have potentially found a solution for another OEM+ wheel choice but I'm still testing. I have one of the new wheels coming from ebay to test fit. I'm crossing fingers everything will work out. I'm really looking forward to finally getting to take the car for a drive with the new brakes and eventually signing up for a few spirited car events this year. I'll share pics later if there is any interest.
