Hey, lately i've been working on my e34, jacking the front just behind the sills on the curved shaped thing that runs along the floor, it seems very solid but after 1 jack it just bent inside eventho i used very thick rubber under the floor jack and jackstands.
So im looking for alternative spots to lift and jack my 95 bimmer e34, i've heard that front subframe is a good spot (not the x-member that is commonly misstaken with it), i need to know where exactly to put the floor jack and jackstands, would be very good with pictures.
Thanks for any help!
I jack up my E34 on the cross member. never had a problem. I don't use the sides because they seem fragile (Upstate NY winters). So, to prevent further damage, I jack up on the front cross member, then put jack stands on the sides or on the ends of the cross member.
just to be clear, for sure the xmember not the subframe?

It does indeed, thanks a lot!
The
- 4 corner have literal [xx] looking box things to use.
- rear diff
- frame rails
and those other components mentioned by the previous postings by Drew as well.
Hey, what [xx] looking box is it? could you show me it smewhere on the image on the internets?
I know frame rails are good, unless they're bent in like i did with mine.. Cant use them anymore
Sorry I cannot get you a picture at the moment.
I grabbed this quote from a haynes manual site. Maybe it'll help you out too, I stumbled upon it when I typed in E34 undercarriage. Clear font it seems http://www.e34.hu/service/kendtamas/XHAYNES.pdf
"" Position the head of the jack under the sideof the vehicle, making sure it engages with thepocket made for this purpose (just behind thefront wheel, or forward of the rear wheel). ""
The pocket they're referring too is the [ ][||][ ] looking thing I am talking about. Although they mention for OEM jack, surely can be used by a regular jack. My current car already has a lot of weird pinches and bends from previous owners under that seam so I used a harbor freight jack and didn't notice any more bending/damage.
